How It Works
Anthony Charts is a living world intelligence dashboard — not a news feed, not an opinion platform. Every number comes from a real, publicly available scientific or institutional source. Nothing is invented. Nothing is spin. The goal is to give you a clear, honest, sourced picture of the world across four dimensions: Earth, Space, Human Systems, and Biosphere.

Where we build composite indices (like World On Edge), we publish every weight and input here so you can evaluate our editorial choices yourself. Composite indices involve judgment — we don't hide that.
The Philosophy
⚖️
Paired Opposites
Every destructive force has a countervailing force. Species extinction is paired with conservation coverage. Conflict deaths with peacekeeping reach. Wealth inequality with social mobility. This pairing is intentional — it prevents the dashboard from being purely alarming, and it asks the more interesting question: is the response proportional to the problem?
🔬
Trusted Sources Only
Every meter draws from peer-reviewed data, established institutional databases, or primary government science agencies. NOAA, NASA, IUCN, ACLED, UCDP, World Bank, UN DPPA, Copernicus C3S, NSIDC, Breakthrough Listen. No aggregators. No media outlets. No social signals. The source is always published in the drawer of each meter.
📅
Update Cadence Matters
Each meter displays its update cadence (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual). We refresh values when the underlying source publishes. Some meters — like Arctic Ice and Solar Activity — update daily. Others, like Social Mobility and Conservation Coverage, update annually. Cadence is always shown on each card so you know what you're looking at.
🧮
Arc Scale Logic
Each arc gauge fills from 0% to 100% based on a meaningful scale — not arbitrary. Temp Anomaly arc = position within the 0–2°C Paris corridor. CO₂ arc = position between 280ppm (pre-industrial) and 500ppm (extreme risk). Species Threat arc = threatened as % of all assessed. Scales are documented in each drawer and here below.
🌍 The Balance — Composite Indices
😰
World On Edge Index — 78/100
A composite 0–100 score now drawing from five inputs:

· GPR Index (Caldara & Iacoviello) — geopolitical risk language across 10 major global newspapers · 35% weight
· ACLED active conflict event count — 56 active zones currently · 25% weight
· Gallup global worry and stress survey · 15% weight
· Conflict Deaths (ACLED/UCDP) — YTD battle deaths normalized · 15% weight
· Species Threat Index (IUCN) — inverted conservation signal · 10% weight

Score rose from 76 to 78 with the addition of conflict deaths and species loss as direct inputs. All inputs normalized to 0–100 before weighting.
GPR · Caldara & IacovielloACLEDGallupUCDPIUCNMonthly
💚
World Goodness Index — 54/100
Original composite tracking humanity's positive momentum, now drawing from six inputs:

· OCHA humanitarian aid volume · 20% weight
· World Bank extreme poverty rate (inverted) · 20% weight
· Our World in Data scientific breakthrough count · 15% weight
· UN treaty signatures per quarter · 15% weight
· Social Mobility Index (World Bank GSMI) · 15% weight
· Conservation Coverage growth rate (Protected Planet) · 15% weight

Score fell from 58 to 54 as wealth inequality and stalled social mobility now register as drags on the composite. Conservation wins partially offset the decline.
OCHAWorld BankOWIDUN Treaty DBProtected PlanetMonthly
🧭 Calm Window Probability
🧭
Calm Window Probability — 28% (LOW)
This is not a prediction of peace. It is a probabilistic assessment of directional easing — the likelihood that global tension meaningfully decreases within the next 12 months, based on current momentum in three signals:

· GPR 3-month slope (40% weight) — Is the Geopolitical Risk Index trending up or down? A falling 3-month slope scores higher.
· ACLED conflict trend (40% weight) — Are active conflict events growing or shrinking month-over-month? Declining event counts score higher.
· Volatility compression (20% weight) — Is the GPR falling sharply enough to signal a genuine structural easing, not just noise? Sharp downward momentum scores higher.

Each input is scored 0–100 and weighted. The final Calm Window score reflects the probability of directional easing — not cessation of conflict. At 28%, the composite says: roughly 1-in-4 chance tensions meaningfully ease in the next year. All three current inputs are trending in the wrong direction: GPR slope is rising, ACLED event counts are elevated, and no volatility compression is evident.

⚡ A note on methodology
Anthony Charts is a curation and visualization tool — not a primary research publisher. We normalize, weight, and present data from the sources listed above. Composite indices (World On Edge, World Goodness, Calm Window, Information Integrity, Trade Stress) involve editorial judgment in weighting. We publish every weight here and in each meter's drawer. If you see a number that looks wrong or a source that has updated, we welcome corrections. The goal is always accuracy over drama. All data is publicly sourced and linked.
